This is very low key art show.
Six weeks before the show:
Signs written on old refrigerator doors, car doors, etc. are put up around town.
One month before the show:
Posters go up in local stores, etc.
Email publicity to newspapers.
Email notice to artist and customer list; include labels (click on attachment below).
Day before:
Set up the space.
Day of show:
Have artists bring work between 8-10 and hang or display wherever they like.
Tape label next to or on each piece. Place duplicate label in file box at front desk.
Put numbers on each label; one on the label on the artwork and a duplicate number on the label in file box.
It is best to make numbered stickers ahead of time and assign numbers to each artist.
At the show:
Assign several people to write up sales so that you can talk to press, answer any questions and attend to any problems.
Have associates record sales by numbers in sales books.
Encourage people to vote for 3 favorite pieces.
A half hour before end of show:
Tally votes and award prizes. Last year's winner is to provide this year's prizes. They are to be recycled objects.
Day after show:
Total receipts.
Go through sales books and remove labels from file box that coordinate with sales books.
Sort labels by artists, total sales (we take 30% to be donated to our elementary school art department)
1 week after the show:
Wait till sales checks clear and then write new checks and send checks to artists.
